new york city.

New York City was amazing. As usual. We went to the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the met, which was amazing. So beautiful. I may have to do a separate post on that... I saw The Normal Heart which was also amazing, and Born Yesterday, which I didn't like quite so much. (As hard as I try, I can never enjoy watching Jim Belushi.) As with any city the best part was just walking around. We were staying at the Chelsea International Hostel so I got to see a part of New York I've never seen before. I think I like SoHo more, but I feel like you have to actually live in NYC to get to know it really well. I've only scraped the surface.
Just proofread this, and I say amazing a lot. My apologies. here are some synonyms you can sub in.

  • Astonishing
  • Awesome
  • wonderful
  • fantastic
  • Super cool (actually don't use that one.)
P.S. my friend Harper wants to be in this post. she's currently filming really strange and awkward videos with my camera... She says to follow her twitter here http://twitter.com/#!/harperrose and her twitter is locked but don't worry she adds anybody, it's only locked so that if someone she knows tries to follow her she can have a say in it (she doesn't want people to judge her). So follow her on twitter, she's trying to get up to 100 followers, she's at 63 right now!
And she sorta wrote all this.
So yeah.
Bye!!

A ring I bought at pippin vintage jewelry. My ring collection is slowly building, but its a process...

Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny

I have been listening to My Cousin Vinny quotes my whole life. I've frequently been called a "yoot," by my parents, which led me to question their sanity quite a few times. After actually watching the movie my fears were put at ease (a little.) But the whole time I was watching this movie I was focused completely on Marisa Tomei and what she was wearing. I swear that movie could be put on mute and I would sit through all 120 minutes of it just to see her costumes. She has this 80's/early nineties thing going which reminds me a lot of lady gaga for some reason...Anyway these pictures don't need much explaining. Just immerse yourself in the wonderful culture on display here. I think she looks pretty great.

grandma's jewelry box

These are a few pieces from my grandma's endless collection of jewelry. Most of them have been around longer than me. I finally decided to take some photos of them while I was staying at her house this summer. We crashed at her house on route to vermont from NYC. (More on that later.) She gave me the necklace from Afghanistan and the turquoise earrings, which I can't wait to wear.

stuck in a rut.

I never know what to do with myself in the beginning of summer. All the freedom is a little overwhelming. But I'm leaving for NYC tomorrow, so that'll keep me busy. We're staying for more that two days this time, so I'm getting ready for some major shopping. And museums. And plays. And food... I've been looking for vintage shops online, and trying to figure out what to pack. Always a challenge. My closet is about 12 times the size of my suitcase, and I want to make sure no one feels left out. And I have to make room for everything I'm going to buy... I can guarantee you, I'll be coming back broke. But with pictures! Finally found my camera charger, so I'm ready to go. Hopefully I'll be able to post while I'm there but we're not bringing a computer so that may prove to be quite a challenge.

Alberta Feretti Spring 2011

I am so excited for summer.
I just thought we should start with that.
But anyway, I saw this Alberta Ferretti collection on Style.com and I fell in love with it. This collection is exactly what summer should look like. The wide brim hats and flowy (is that even an adjective???) pastel dresses are so beautiful.  It also has one of my favorite looks for summer, the maxi skirt/dress but I feel like it might be hard to pull off in Evanston... So we'll see. I bought this gorgeous vintage maxi dress a couple months ago at Vintage Heaven, and I can't wait to wear it. I'll probably upload pics of it soon, but I have finals coming up... So maybe not super soon. Enjoy the pics!!!! I hope they get you in the mood for summer.

spring

Hello!!!!
I know, I know, I've been bad. It's been nearly two months since my last blog post, and I really have no explanation. I've been busy? I don't know. Stuffs been happening and I haven't gotten a chance to do a photo shoot in forever.  But I'm still shopping! I swear, I wake up every morning thinking about what I need for my spring wardrobe, and then i don't rest until I find it. So heres what I've been thinking about...

TO BUY LIST FOR SPRING:
-Wedges, brown leather preferably
-Lots of white (White button down, dress, cropped tops...)
-Necklaces to layer
-vintage shaped sunglasses
-high waisted jean cutoff shorts (I recommend going to the thrift, buying light wash, high waisted, mom jeans and cutting them up...)
-Long skirt
-Long floral dress
-RINGS!!!!
-Denim jacket (already have one but good to put on the list...)

I'm sort of going for the whole relaxed, indie, Bohemian look this summer, for more ideas I'd look at Lookbook.nu. I've been making lots of jean shorts recently, and I'm looking for a sheer-ish button down top to wear tucked in.. Brown leather is something else I've been looking for recently... In belts, shoes, bags... Whatever I can find. I love the western/Vintage influence this summer. Really fun to play around with. Also, I've been on a huge search for jewelry! Layered necklaces, tons of rings, I really want to stack them up for this summer... So that's my plan.

Kind of glasses I want.. Forever 21
