Jason Wu for Target

Really looking forward to this collection opening tomorrow, I just hope it won't all be sold out when I get there (like the missoni collection). The looks are beautiful. They're classic lines with new prints and slight twists that keep them modern and chic. I love the slight schoolgirl quality (especially the loafers with high white socks and the lunch box(ish) handbag,) and the whimsical details you can find in many of the looks. Each piece seems versatile enough to fit in comfortably in any wardrobe, but also strong enough to stand on it's own. The entire collection seems so effortless and clean. I keep picturing the ocean and rocky beaches on the east coast. That being said, they also look like they'd translate well into an urban atmosphere. I can't wait until I can actually try some on! I just hope they fit as beautifully as they look.

Leather Pants

I was semi-on-the-fence about this trend, but after spending quite a while sifting through blogs and looking at tons of different ways to style leather pants, I'm on board. It may just be because I'm getting tired of black jeans, but I really think that leather pants add something to an outfit. Another texture to play with, a new look that breathes new life into overused pieces of clothing, and under the right circumstances, they can work beautifully. Yes, it's possible to go the rubbery, tacky, campy route, and that may be the image that popped into your head after reading the post title. But below is proof that there are tons of other ways to style leather pants, and I'm very much convinced that they would be a welcomed addition to many denim infested wardrobes.

life now.

My world has been turned upside down. Or rightside up, depending on how you look at it. Thing I took for granted are gone and more than I ever thought possible has changed. I now live in this strange limbo state, where sometimes I can't tell if I'm awake or asleep. It is all of my doing. I made the decision to stop going to school. It became excruciating to go for reasons even I am not fully aware of yet. The only thing I know right now is that things are going to change. I'm just not sure how.
These pictures are not meant to be beautiful or profound. They're jut pictures of what my life is right now. There is no better way to explain it. They are simply pictures of what is, in a time where all I do is try not to think about what isn't.

Homecoming

Couldn't contact my inner cheerleader for homecoming at school, so instead some friends and I roamed around Evanston for the better part of a rainstorm. We bought a few disposable cameras and wandered though the streets we know a little too well, trying to shake up a few new memories to replace stale ones.

Topshop in Chicago

Topshop opened today in our lovely Windy City and, as fate would have it, I had to be right across the street for an audition after school. So I casually walked in, carefree (It's NOT like I was hyperventilating the night before about actually having a real life TOPSHOP a train ride away and I most definitely was NOT counting down the minutes until 9th period ended so I could RUN RUN RUN home and get in the car and drive to downtown Chicago as fast as the law would allow...) But anyway, I got there and even with all of my excitement I felt like I must have forgotten what it was really like to be in that store. It's fresh and sleek and new and Topshop is definitely different than the other huge chains on Michigan Avenue. Normally someone with my budget has to wait for trends to trickle down from runways to magazines to blogs and then to stores where I can snatch up every piece I see that reminds me of the 2011 Fall/Winter Marc Jacobs show. I love H&M and Forever 21 for staples, Urban Outfitters for pieces that make more of a statement, and vintage and thrifting for everything else. With Topshop It's as if the trends from the runways were sent over to the secret Topshop lab (where they hold all the secret formulas for everything that is good in life) right after the shows. It's exhilarating holding a garment that you saw grace the runways not too long ago in your hands, available for purchase. I can't wait to go again and I've been considering getting a job to pay for my new addiction. But that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
